Springs.  We were pleased to have the company of the Walk-Ways

CONSERVATION
Jan. 62 Doerr, Bob Lily Pond - This upland sinkhole pond, on Julian Steyermark's list
of "must save" natural areas, had been acquired by the Nature
Conservancy.  The 0.32 acre pond is located in Reynolds County.
Jan. 62 Announcement - A course in conservation will be offered at the 
Normandy Residence Center of the University of Missouri
commencing in February.  Classes will be on Thursday nights for 
16 weeks.

Jy-Ag 62 The Bluebird Trail - Tells how Dr. T. E. Musselman of Quincy 
pioneered the bluebird trail by pioneering practical, inexpensive, and 
easy to make bluebird homes, and how pioneering bluebird trails
were started in Cape Girardeau, Kirkwood, and by State 
Naturalist George E. Moore.

Jan. 62 Doerr, Bob Steyermark in Venezuela - Report from Steyermark, who has been
in Venezuela two years now, of a four month botanical trip into 
the wilderness of northeastern Venezuela.  He reported that his 
comprehensive Flora of Missouri, being printed in Denmark, will 
be available in September from the publishing arm of an Iowa
state university.  Steyermark was in New York for several months 
this summer and expects to return next year.
Apr. 62 Birders in the St. Louis area are sorry to hear of the death of Mr.
Arthur Bennett in California.  He was a long-time member of 
WGNSS and continued his membership after moving to California.

hints for the beginner in astronomy.

Mar. 62 40th Anniversary - April 28, at Weldon Springss.  Field Trips, 
dinner and speaker.  The church women who have furnished our
meal at other annual meetings will do it again, except this time
we will go to the church for the dinner.

our fortieth, but found that it will really be the 42nd.)  Meet at the 
schoolhouse at 9 AM for the early field trip.  Lunch will be at the

afternoon.  Dinner at 5:30 PM at the New Hope E. & R. Church, 
Weldon Springs.  Mr. J. G. Princell from the Audio Visual Dept. of
the St. Louis Schools will be the speaker of the evening and show
pictures of Missouri.
May. 62 Report on April 13 Annual Meeting.  Officers and Group Chairmen
gave their reports on the past year's activities.  Officers were 
elected (see Administrative Section).  After the business meeting 
Mr. Carter gave us a quick around the United States.
