Jan. 56 Moore, George E. The Unlovely "Stinkhorns" - Description of a
malodorous mushroom.
Mar. 56 Petersen, Oscar Comments on common names for plants, and
how their use leads to confusion.  A number of
examples.  
Apr. 56 The Botany Group has two good meetings 
planned.  Waldemar Palm will show his colored
slides of Missouri wild flowers, and Arthur Christ
will lead a field trip to Washington State Park.

Jun. 56 Petersen, Oscar  Pickel Springs and the "Lost Orchid" - Petersen

Jan. 56 Mr. & Mrs. Dick Anderson became the proud 
parents of Dianne Kay on Nov. 25th
Feb. 56 Petersen, Oscar Biographical information about Julian Steyermark
and Richard Grossenheider.
Mar. 56 The Hofsommers won the Schawacker Bowl
for outstanding work in orchid raising.  Mrs. 
Hofsommer's picture of a purple finch feeding at
their feeder was in the Sunday Magazine of the 
Post-Dispatch on Feb. 26
Apr. 56 Congratulations, Mr. Petersen - Wins the St.
Louis Audubon's Society's Conservation Award as
an amateur botanist.  The following week he was
honored again with St. Louis Audubon's annual 
award for work in conservation.  He was cited for
discovering many rare plants in Missouri and for
inspiring many young amateurs to work in the 
field of botany.
Apr. 56 Mr. Adolph Dreyer Dies - A long time member
of WGNSS died on March 15.  An amateur 
geologist, he contributed many articles on 
geology to Nature Notes.  Also an outstanding
nature photographer.  
May. 56 Congratulations to Kurt and Bonnie Wesseling on
the birth of a daughter, Cynthia Lea, born April 15.
May. 56 Word has been received of another little girl, 
Libby Jane Koapuiki, born April 14 in Honolulu,
Hawaii, to Joe and Jane Koapuiki.  Older members
will remember the mother as Jane Gallagher.

January 8.  Meet at the main gate at 8 AM.  The
regular routes will be followed.
Feb. 56 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Friday, Feb. 10,
at Webster Groves Public Library.  This will be
the annual showing of slides.  Bring your friends;
lots of room.
Mar. 56 Monthly Census at Weldon Springs, Sunday, 
March 11, 8 AM.  Meet at the brick school 
house at the entrance on Hwy. 94.  Regular routes
will be covered.  
Mar. 56 WGNSS General and Botany Meeting, 6:30 PM,
Friday, March 16, at the home of Mr. & Mrs. 
Mar. 56 Waldemar Palm.  The purpose of the meeting is
to honor the 91st birthday of Oscar Petersen, which
was March 1.  Movies of Africa will be shown after
the dinner.  
Apr. 56 Annual Meeting of WGNSS will be held on Friday,
April 13.  All officers should bring their reports to
be read, and officers for the new year will be
elected.  Our speaker of the evening will be Col.
George W. Hunter, III, who will speak on "The
Relationship of Birds to Disease."  The meeting
will be held at the Magner home, 516 Bacon Ave.,
Webster Groves.

last minute.  Various members showed slides.

Bulger, who talked about the restoration of the Old
Court House.
