Jan. 54 Dreyer, Adolph W. Lithostrotion Proliferum - This coral is found in strata exposed 
when the Mississippi River is at low level just east of Jefferson 
Barracks.
Feb. 54 Dreyer, Adolph W. Glacial Action Near St. Louis - Isolated spots of gravel and erratic
boulders are found along the Mississippi River from the City of
St. Louis to near Cape Girardeau, and to a distance of eight miles
west of the river.
Sep. 54 Dreyer, Adolph W. Geology Notes - More about glacial signs in the rocky bottom of
the Mississippi by low water level.  Grooves in the rock are 
visible, all running in the same direction;.

Jun. 54 Dr. Edgar Anderson, professor of botany at Washington University,
is new director of the Missouri Botanical Garden, replacing 
George T. Moore, who has retired.  Dr. Anderson is an Honorary
Member of WGNSS.

Oct. 54 Mr. A. F. Satterthwait Dies - Word has been received of the 
death of Mr. Satterthwait in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Burial was in
Media, Pennsylvania.  It is understood that Mrs. Satterthwait will
spend some time in Media before returning to Florida.  Her 
address there is 24 West Street, Media, Pa.  In St. Petersburg
it is 775 19 Ave., St. Petersburg, Fla.
Oct. 54 The Magners have done it again.  Another boy, David Thro Magner
was born Sept. 21
Nov. 54 Massie, Joel Dr. Zola K. Cooper Dies - Dr. Cooper died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1954
A WGNSS member and prominent in the medical profession as a 
teacher, she will be missed.  
Dec. 54 J. Earl Comfort received the Conservation Citation by the St. Louis
Audubon Society at its meeting on Nov. 29.  This is an annual
award.
Dec. 54 Mr. Wayne Short, Assist. Executive of the National Audubon
Society, has been nominated by the Missouri 4-H Club Hdqtrs.
as one of the Missouri candidates under the National 4-H
Alumni Recognition program for former members who achieve 
success.

Jun. 54 Massie, Joel New "Midwest" Audubon Camp (1955 opening) near Spooner and
Saroua, Wisconsin.  It's on a 300 acre site with two lakes and a 
ridge affording a view for 30 miles.  The Camp Committee hopes

Public Library.  All officers and group chairmen have annual reports
on hand.  Officers for the coming year will be elected.  The speaker
will be Mr. Charles Schwartz of the editorial staff of the Conser-
vationist.  He will speak on "Ecological Reconnaissance of the 
Hawaiian Islands, a Possible 49th State".  Invite your friends.
May. 54 Report on the Schwatz speech at the Annual Banquet.  He 
dwelled on some of the unusual ecological factors of the Hawaiian
Islands, such as a 8-400 inch variation in rainfall, high mountains,
deep valleys, extinct volcanoes and sandy beaches, many different
habitats.
