gathered on April 22 to see the bluebells.  Many  remarked that

of vines, thickets and undergrowth from the southwest section of
the park, an area that has always been a birdwatcher's haven.

Aug. 51 O'Byrne, Joan The Tale of a Caterpillar - The transition of a caterpillar collected
on a field trip on July 15, taken home, and which emerged from 
its container on July 25 as a Violet Tip (Question Mark) butterfly.

PEOPLE
Feb. 51 Dr. George H. Klinkerfuss died Dec. 10, 1950 at his home in
Normandy. He was Past President of the Missouri Audubon 
Society and well known by many in WGNSS.  
Mar. 51 Magner, J. Marshall Harold I. O'Byrne - Died Jan. 22, 1951 at age 53.  A long time
WGNSS member.  Extensive biography.
Apr. 51 Mrs. Lula L. O'Byrne  died March 21 at the home of her son, 
Stuart O'Byrne.  She will best be  remembered as the mother of 
two of our most valued members.
Apr. 51 John and Ellen Dashner are planning to move to Washington, D.C.
We can ill afford to lose such valuable members, but wish them well.
Sep. 51 Mrs. C. S. Stones, a charter member member of WGNSS, who 
attended meetings and field trips regularly from 1920 until about a
month before her death.  She shared her love for the outdoors by 
leading hikes and writing for Nature Notes.   She died on July 20,
Oct. 51 Miss Hattie Ettinger Married William Conway this summer.  Hattie
has been one of the more active members of the Ornithology
Group for the past several years.
Oct. 51 Mr. & Mrs. Jack Van Benthuysen have  brought another birder into
the world, Daniel Van Benthuysen, born July 30, 1951
Oct. 51 Al Berkowitz, once chairman of the Ornithology Group, has been
elected chairman of the Iowa Ornithologist's Union.
Oct. 51 Comfort, James F. Jim Jackson has resigned as Naturalist at Meramec State Park
to accept a position with the Conservation Commission as an 
Educational Advisor in the southwest section of the state.
Nov. 51 Magner, Mrs. John H. Mary Kate (Mrs. William) Pickens died very recently.  Over a
period of twenty-eight years she has contributed largely to the 
welfare, advancement and success of our Society.  She served 
the Society as president from April 1940 to April 1941.
Nov. 51 O'Byrne, May Mrs. Mary Rau, mother of Miss Edna Rau, one of our most 
faithful members, died recently.
