May. 45 Anderson, Paul Bull. Vol. 7, No. 5, 1945 puublished by the Chicago Academy of
Sciences titled "New Herpetological Records for Missouri" lists
several new species in north and northwest Missouri, including
salamanders, frogs and snakes.
LODGE
Sep. 45 Use and Abuse of the Nature Study Lodge - Soon after a new
lock was installed, the Lodge door was left wide open, and
shortly thereafter a window unlocked.  No damage done, but
users are urged to do better.
Nov. 45 Annual Merry Woodchopping Bee, Sunday, Nov.18, at the Lodge.
Bring axes and saws, lunch, and invite friends.  Coffee will be
served.

Jan. 45 Toubu Bird Paradise in the City - Large number of species in a square
mile, south of River Des Peres Drive and east of Morganford Road.

Jan. 45 Bird Club Motion Picure Series - 8 PM, Thursday, Jan. 4 at

present "Wonders of the Southern Wilderness".
Jan. 45 Review of Bonard's "Life of St. Francis of Asissi" - Observing
birds is better than slaughtering them for examination.  Clipping

Jan. 45 Weber, Lou Birding at a Naval Air Station - Have banded 50 juveniles this year
in Indiana.  More birds around than one would expect.
SLEET - SNOW and hungry birds.  Urges Scouts (and others)

Feb. 45 Christmas census at the Lodge - 27 species, 626 individuals
List in narrative form.
Feb. 45 Comfort, James Earl Notes - About a lone Christmas count covering five miles afoot
and 3-3/4 hours.  Netted 27 species and 374 birds, on Dec. 31.

Jan. 45 Hark - Hark - The Stork!!! - Gail Elizabeth Rau born on Oct. 27 to

Mrs. William S. Brandorst recently in Galveston, where Captain
Brandhorst is stationed with the Army Medical Corps.
Feb. 45 Marshall Magner Heard From - Letter in response to Bird Group

Mar. 45 Staff Sergeant Clara Beerman and Chief Carpentaer's Mate Louis
M. Weber were married Jan. 25 in Indianapolis.
May. 45 Miss Magdalene Pfeffer has been in the hospital for over two 
months.  Cards or messages from members would be cheering.
Jun. 45 James A. Smith, Deceased.  Mr. Smith died on April 27 at the
age of 74. He was a regular attendant at Lodge field meetings.
Aug. 45 Gallagher, William The Shadows of Eveningtide Close About a Revered Friend - 
Mrs.Helen Schnaedelbach died recently just past her ninetieth
birthday.
Sep. 45   Iva Leonard, enthusiastic birder, who moved from Webster Groves
and changed her name to Mrs. W. O. Jackson, is listed as one
of the four official founders of the new Jefferson City Bird Club.

Oct. 45 Oc Lost Ex-President Heard from - Edith Long has surfaced in 
Washington D. C. browsing in the Natural History Museum.
Oct. 45 Back from Over-seas - Robert J. Hill has returned home after
three years in Europe on war duty.
Nov. 45   Another Soldier Returns - Ex-President Arthur Christ is again a 
civilian.  We're glad you're back.

Jan. 45 Pough, Richard A Bicycle Tips the Balance of Nature - A boy  buys a bicycle and
traps skunks in an area.  This allows more snapping turtles to 
grow in a pond and the turtles curtail and finally eliminate the wood
duck population there.

Dec. 45 Jones, Sterling P Lingering Overtime with the Rangers - After the eventful day with
Father Link on Nov. 11, described above, Mr. Palm had to return
home.  I stayed over for a few days as a guest of Father Link and
spent much of the time with the Rangers.

Jun. 45 Editor  Just a Few Unavoidable Sour Notes - (1) Dues are a little bit
overdue for the year.  This can be remedied by sending them to
the Treasurer, Miss Beulah Bedell; (2) Entry by vandals into the 
Lodge despite the barricades installed on the windows indicates
access by key.  A new door lock will be installed, and current key
holders must request a new one.

planned for WGNSS.  Start collecting mementos.  Give us your
suggestions.
Feb. 45 Lists members of Committee for 25th Anniversary Dinner and 
Tentative Plans.  Asks members to gather mementos for display
at the affair.  Asks for volunteers.
Feb. 45 All Day Field Meeting at Nature Study Lodge.  Field trips morning 
and afternoon.  Bring a guest - and lunch.
Mar. 45 O'Byrne, Olive Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Webster Groves Nature Study Society,
6:45 PM, Friday, April 6.  At the Winston Churchill, 5475 Cabanne.
Price: $1.15.  It is hoped that Mr. & Mrs. A. F. Satterthwait will
be our guests on this occasion.  INTERMISSION. Where we 
leave off Friday night we will take up on Sunday with an informal 
Open House at the Lodge, 2 PM.  Bring supper for campfire in
the evening.  (Officers for the coming year will be elected on
Friday evening.)
Mar. 45 Open House at the Nature Study Lodge on Sunday, April 8, 
in observance of our Quarter Century turning point in the cause of
nature-study, nature education, and conservation of natural
resources.  Come in the morning, spend the day, and stay for the
evening campfire gathering.  Hikes morning and afternoon.
Apr. 45 Annual Meeing and Anniversaary Dinner, 8 PM, at the 
Winston Churchill, 5475 Cabanne Ave., St. Louis.  Also the
annual meeting and election of officers.
May. 45  O'Byrne, May **April 1920-April 1945** - Report on the twenty-fifth anniversary
dinner on April 6, with Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Satterthwait as guests of 
honor.  Dr. Edgar Anderson served as Master of Ceremonies.
Names of charter members present, members serving in the armed
forces, and attendees presented.  The slate of officers presented 
by the Nominating Committee for the coming year was elected
May. 45 Sunday, May 20 the Missouri Walkways Assn. will be our guests
at the Lodge.  They will arrive about 11 AM, and after lunch will
take hikes lead by Mr. Comfort, Mr. Dreyer, and Miss Pickel.
Jun. 45 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Friday, June 15, at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Max Schwarz, 625 Tuxedo Blvd.  This will be a 
Twenty-Fifty Anniversary Echo Meeting.  There wasn't time to
show off all the old-time pictures or to finish the planned programs on
that date.
Jun. 45 General Field Trip to Rockwoods, Sunday, June 14, all day.
There will be a variety of activities, starting with a bird walk at 6 AM
and trail hikes at 10 AM and 2 PM.  Bring your lunch. 
Jul. 45 General Field Trips, Sunday, July 8, all day.  Starting from the
cottage of Sam Alfend.  There will be Botany, Geology, General
field trips and a meeting of the Music Group at the Alfend cottage.

Aug. 45 General Field Meeting at Nature Study Lodge, Sunday, Aug. 5,
2 PM.  Field trip starts at 2 PM, with Stuart L. O'Byrne as 
leader, assisted by Mr. Dreyer and Mr. Comfort.  
Sep. 45 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Friday, Sept. 21, at the home
  of Mrs. William Pickens, 72 Marshall Place, Webster Groves. 
Mrs. F. H. Piper will tell the story of Birds of California.
Oct. 45 General Field Trip to the Schnaedelbach cottage near Allenton on
Sunday, Oct. 21.  Dr. Robert E. Woodson of Washington Uni-
versity will lead a botany hike at 2 PM.
Oct. 45 Field Trip to Hill's Hill on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Nov. 45 Report on meeting at Sam Alfend's cottage on July 8. About 
20 attended, and a good time was enjoyed by all.  Editor wold
