Oct. 36 Gallagher, William A Disastrous Summer - Timber rights to the Ranken Estate were
sold and logging operations began.  Also, a severe brush fire on the
north side of Watson Road, starting west of the Lodge, destroyed
much underbrush where warblers were found.  On top of all this,
a severe drought prevailed.  It has been difficult to keep up the
monthly bird census.

A table shows that the contributions to Nature Notes during the 
8 month period, May-Dec., 1935.  Ornithology had the best record:
a contribution in seven of the eight issues.   Geology had the 
worst record, with one in eight.  The average for the six groups
was 54%, or a contribution in half of the issues published during
the 8 month period.

A.N.S.S. are recommended.
Dec. 36 O'Byrne, Harold I. (Pres.) New Membership Chairman - The duties of the Membership
Chairman, in the absence of the First Vice President, will be 
performed by Mrs.Harold O'Byrne.  A New Promotion Committee,
consisting of the Membership and Publicity Chairmen and the
Secretary-Treasurer, will soon offer suggestions for inceasing the 
membership, interest, and activity of the Society.  Officers, Group
Chairmen, and members are urged to cooperate with the committee
by following these suggestions.

have been mailed to WGNSS members by the A.N.S.S.  Mail to

Museum and Missouri Botanical Garden.  In the afternoon
excursion to Gray Summit to see the Garden's Orchid House,
followed by a visit to the W.G.N.S.S. wayside Nature Museum.  A
social hour at the Lodge, with tea, will follow.
