up a surprising number of wild flowers.  List given.

  Group 3 excursion to Ranken on May 11.
  Group 1 had a rain excursion to the Lodge on June 20.
  Group 4 visited Forest Park on June 15 to study wild flowers.
Aug. 35 Junior Group 2 at the Lodge - Group 2 enjoyed the day of June 29
at the Ranken Nature Study Lodge.  Activities included hiking, a 
business meeting, and a visit to (Mud) cave.  "A perfect day in
the woods".

     trip to the cave, a business meeting.  Bill Brandorst told a
     fake bear story.  After seting the mouse traps, the ten
       Juniors and four leaders left for home.
Nov. 35 The Junior Page:
Schregardus, Dorothy   Gr. 2, Sept. 28 - The Group divided into three smaller groups and
     did different things.  And by 8 PM we were home with our 
     bevies of chigger and mosquito bites.

  Boy Scout Bird Exhibit - Scouts of Webster Groves Boy 
    Scout Troop 9, who have been schooled by Ornithology
    Group members, will have the Bird Study Merit Badge 
    exhibit at the Arena, Dec. 5, 6, and 7.
Schregardus, Dorothy   Group 2  went to the Lodge the afternoon of Oct. 6.
  The group divided and each had many adventures.  Some of 
  the energetic ones brought a fallen tree back to the lodge for
  firewood.

Steel left on July 9 for a three weeks trip to New Mexico.  They're
collecting material for the museum.  The first shipment has already
arrived.

Nov. 35 Rattlesnake:  An unexpected encounter with a good-sized timber

ORNITHOLOGY
Jan. 35 The Christmas Bird Count Census:  17 observers, 30 species, 
1101 birds.  For the Ranken region.  The count enlivened by 
a snowball fight and a marshmallow roast at the lodge fireplace.
Jan. 35 Jones, Sterling P. Feeding the Birds by Mail.  Rural mail carriers are permitted to 
feed birds as they travel their routes.  Readers are encouragedto
provide them with bird food.
Feb. 35 Jones, Sterling P. Illinois Bird Records Wanted, especially the Wood Ibis and the
Snowy Heron, for including in a new publication of the birds of 
Illinois.  Contact S. P. Jones.
Feb. 35 Naming Birds Indoors:  At the Nov. meeting of the Ornithology 
Group the Chairman showed colored pictures of 75 bird species.

Nov. 35 K. P. At the close of the Oct. 4 General Meeting Mrs. A. F. Satterthwait
annunced the engagement of the President of the Society, Miss
Olive Schregardus to the Editor, Mr. Harold O'Byrne.  After the
first surprise, the assembled group took so long to express their
good wishes and consume the refreshments that the meeting 
didn't break up until nearly midnight.

April meeting the Executive Boaard voted to accept the offer of

Jun. 35 December is Coming!  The Committee planning our participation
in the AAAS-ANNS meetings to be held in St.Louis next winter 
is functioning and organizing sub-committees.

BANQUETS/SOCIAL EVENTS
Jun. 35 General Field Trip, Sunday, June 9, starting from the Lodge at
2 PM.  Our Society will host the FERA nature classes.  We need
leaders from each of the nature groups to assist.  Bring supper
and stay for star study after dark.
Oct. 35 Sunday, Oct. 6.  All members and friends are invited to welcome
Dr. & Mrs. Edgar Anderson; on their return to our midst, at the
home of Mr. Phil Rau, 549 E. Argonne Dr., Kirkwood, Mo.  Bring
supper; sandwiches, cookies and fruit will be pooled and served 
buffet style.  Drinks will be furnished.  Festivities will start at 5 PM
