Jan. 33 WGNSS has been alloted space for its exhibit at the forthcoming
national flower show.  A committee has been appointed.
Feb. 33 Flower Show Exhibit.  The Flower Show will be at the Arena, March
25 to April 2.  The Committee in charge of this undertaking consists
of Dr. Brandhorst, Miss Jones, and Stuart O'Byrne.  Help them
make it a success.
Mar. 33 National Flower Show.  Arrangements are progressing  Let a 
committee member know if you have something to display.  All 
groups should be represented.

"The Butterfly Book", widely used by butterfly enhusiasts.
Mar. 33 Entomological News Some Remarkable Captures - Attack by a small jumping spider on
a cecropia moth.  Moth rescued but it lived only ten days, 
apparently poisoned by the spider.

Feb. 33 Lodge Unit A Word from the Lodge.  Recent observations of birds, insects, 
and slugs.  No Depression at the Lodge.

Feb. 33 Meyers, Ruth A Winter's Tale - Sightings of birds and animals at the Lodge.
Mar. 33 A new show case for exhibits has been obtained for the Lodge.  It 
will be used initially at the Flower Show.
Mar. 33 Espy Jay Footprints in the Snow:  Observations by the nine people on the
daylight/moonlight hike at the Lodge in February.
Oct. 33 At its September meeting the Executive Board accepted a 
proposal from the Lodge Unit offering use of the Lodge for a museum.
Phil Rau was elected director.
Oct. 33 Lodge Unit The Lodge invites all friends and members of the Society to
attend the overnight field trip at the Nature Study Lodge on
Saturday and Sunday, Oct.  7th and 8th.
The Ranken Museum.  Full description of the agreement between 
the Society and the Lodge Unit regarding the establishment of a 
Nature Museum in the Lodge.  Details of the Museum furnishings 
and its management given.

Nov. 33 Museum Board Pictures of birds sighted at the Lodge after Oct. 7, 1933 to be
displayed in the museum.  Contributions from members

Dec. 33 Myers, Ruth Lodge Log:  Hike on a blustery Dec. 8, by about 20 hikers.
Then a song fest at the Lodge hearth.  Re last month's request
for bird pictures.  Osdar Petersen was first with a kingfisher.
Second, Marshall Magner and Tom Kirksey with 18 more, and 
11 from Mrs. Hattie Stones
Dec. 33 The Missouri Botanical Garden has loaned some herbarium, 
cases to the Museum for an indefinite period.  Marshall Magner
has been apointed Curator of Ornithology for Museum and will
have charge of all bird records and displays at the Museum.

Jun. 33 Ornithology Group The European Tree Sparrow - The June meeting will be given 
over to the European Tree Sparrow, released in Lafayette Park
about sixty years ago.  So far they haven't wandered far from St.
Louis.
Jun. 33 O'Byrne, Harold Ornithology Group - Attention! - An experimental study of insect
coloration and the relative acceptability of the insects to birds.

Nov. 33 Ernest Thompson Seton will be in St. Louis, Saturday, Nov. 12, 
and the St. Louis Nature Society will hold a banquet in his honor.

Feb. 33 Arrangements are being made for WGNSS to place exhibits in the
Webster Groves Public Library.  Members having suitable 
collections for exhibit are asked to cooperate.
Mar. 33 The museum case for WGNSS exhibits at the Webster Groves
Public Library is nearly completed.

Aug. 33 A Review:  The Book of Amber, by G. C. Williamson.  A very 
complete review and much info. about amber and the insect and
plant remains found entombed therein.

Mar. 33 Nominating Committee.   The committee to select officers for the
coming year will consist of A. E. Mueller, Dr. O. W. Brandhorst, 
and Harry E. Bradley.  Give them your suggestions.
Mar. 33 Group Elections -  Groups should elect their new chairmen/
secretaries for the coming year without delay and send the
names of the new offiers to the Nature Notes Editor so that they 
can be pubblished in the April issue.
Mar. 33 An Active Society - WGNSS and Nature Notes both got favorable
mention in the March number of Nature Magazine.  
Mar. 33 To help getting acquainted with new members, we will publish a 
list of new WGNSS members.  Recently we admitted 8 new 
members.

Apr. 33 Our Relation to the American Nature Study Society:  According to
our By-Laws, the Webster Nature Study Society is a section of the 
American Nature Study Society, and 25 cents of the dues of our
active members goes to the American Society.  Each of our
members , therefore, is a member of the National Organization
and enjoys the same privileges as members of the national 
Socierty, who pay dues of $1 per year.  The American Nature 
Study Society, in turn, is affiliated with the American Association
for the Advancement of Science, and the annual meetings are
held at the same time and place as those of the A.A.A.S.  We are
thus a part of the great nationwide organization of societies 
interested in science and nature study.

Nov. 33 Fifty-Seven Varieties - We've learned that a number of organizations
have a publication called "Nature Notes".  A publication by this
name is issued at each of our National Parks.  The remedy is to
change our name.  Suggestions for a new name requested.

Dec. 33 Editor We are compiling a list of papers on scientific and nature 
subjects published by our members duing 1933, which we want 
to published in Nature Notes soon.  Please send us a list of 
your publications, with exact information about title, where 
published, etc.  We hope to make this an annual feature of Nature
Notes.
Dec. 33 New Names for Nature Notes:  So far only one of the names 
received, Nature Nibbler, seems to meet the requirement.  What
do you think?  Too flippant?
MEETINGS
Feb. 33 There's been discussion about having a dinner in connection with
the annual meeting on the first Friday in April.  The Executive
Board will discuss comments pro and con.  Let us have yours.
Feb. 33 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Friday, Feb. 3, at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. A. F. Satterthwait, 118 Waverly Place, Webster 
Groves.  Mr. and Mrs. Satterthwait will report on the annual 
meetings of the American Nature-Study Society and other
organizations at Atlantic City, Dec. 27, 28, and 29, 1932.
Mar. 33 Annual Meeting:  Comments about a dinner in connection with
the annual meeting were for the most part unfavorable.  The
Executive Board decided against a dinner this year.

Alfend, Chemist in the U. S. Food and Drug Administration, will

BANQUETS/SOCIAL EVENTS
Feb. 33 Special Field Trip, sponsored by members of the Lodge Unit.  All
members of WGNSS invited, on Sunday, Feb. 12.  Meet at the
Lodge at 4 PM.  A brief hike, then lunch around a campfire, and
a second hike in the light of the rising moon.
Mar. 33 General Field Trip, Sunday, March 19, at the Lodge.  Morning
Hike, lunch at the Lodge (roasted hot dogs recommended), and
another hike in the afternoon.  Hike leaders will be Mr. Harold 
O'Byrne (morning) and Mr. Jones (afternoon)
May. 33 General Field Trip to Jonca Creek, Ste Genevieve County,
Sunday, May 7.
Jun. 33 Nature-Study Lodge and Botany Group Joint Field Trip.  All 
members of the Society and friends invited. Saturday-Sunday, 
June 10-11.  Mr. Woodson, Botany Chmn., will lead a group 
Sunday morning.
General Field Trip, to the Glen Park quarry, Moss Hollow, and
Antonio, in Jefferson County.   The chief interest will be geology.
Daisy Boyer will be the leader.
Oct. 33 General Field Trip, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 & 8, at the
Nature Study Lodge, High Ridge Road near Hwy. 66.  Hikes
lead by S. P. Jones and S. L. O'Byrne.
